Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the US. It is a fantastic combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is a game created for all ages and skill levels and the rules are simple, making it easy for beginners to learn. At the same time, for players with more experience it can develop into a fast paced and highly competitive game. This range makes pickleball an excellent sport for the diversity of skill levels at Bellcate School. We embrace experiences where everyone in our community can become involved. According to the U.S.A. Pickleball Association, there are currently 3.1 million players across the country. That’s a 12 percent increase from the previous year. This game’s popularity is due to its significant health and social benefits. Playing pickleball improves mood and mental health, burns calories, improves balance and agility, and supports social connections and friendship. Bellcate School is sold. In fact, we sealed the deal with creating two permanent regulation courts at our Lily’s Gym community center. Pickleball is offered as part of our dynamic physical education program, as part of our Winter Health Initiative for staff, and as part of our monthly family night activities. So far the participation and feedback has been very positive. Additionally, our Lily’s Gym Pickleball courts can be rented to community members on a sign up basis.
