As summer ended and we said ‘farewell’ and ‘good luck’ and ‘well wishes’ to both graduating students and staff moving on to new experiences and places, we also geared up to welcome some newcomers to our community.

We are excited to welcome new students Abdinor and Carter to the Bellcate community. Both have transitioned well and have had a positive impact on the community in their first weeks here. Abdinor is full of smiles and energy and can brighten anyone’s day. Carter comes to us ready to get into our athletics program – currently playing soccer on local team and ready for basketball season to start!

We have also welcomed back a few staff from summer adventures and added a few new faces to the mix around here. Brooke, Will, and Justin all started at the start of the school year and have hit the ground running! Brooke is a champ in the Bellcate School Dog Treat Kitchen – supporting a wide variety of students in finding their role with this new business. Will is a strong player in our P.E. classes — loving to shoot hoops and do skill building drills with our less experienced players. And Justin is hitting the books — math, science, social studies — you name it, he’s got it!

We have also welcomed two interns for the year through local colleges. Anna comes from Champlain College’s Psychology program. Dan comes from University of Vermont’s Psychology program. Both are excited to join our community and are making positive connections with students early on. We are excited to watch them grow throughout the course of the year.

The start of the year always brings excitement, change, and an opportunity to start fresh. New energy in our community encourages us all to see all of the spectacular things that are happening around this place each and every day. From dog treats to math class, from new job opportunities to tried and true community relationships, from animal care to sitting down with a favorite book to read — students are showing up each and every day to make a difference in their own lives, as well as the greater community. Here’s to a extraordinary 2019-2020 school year!
