In the winter of the 2016-2017 school year, Jamie Moore became the Athletic Director at Bellcate
School. In reviewing our continuum of athletic opportunities, Jamie discovered that a significant portion of our population could be well suited to compete at the Division 4 level. In exploring this option for our students, it became clear that no special education school had ever been sanctioned by the VPA (Vermont Principal’s Association) in Vermont’s history. But this didn’t stop Jamie Moore! He scheduled several meetings with area coaches and athletic directors to prepare for his meeting with the head of the VPA. With a clear vision and the support of our greater community, the VPA determined that Bellcate School was a great match and Bellcate School participated for the first time as a track team in the spring of 2017. Since becoming a member school, Bellcate students have also participated at the D4 level in golf and will compete this winter as a sanctioned JV basketball team.
