Making their first appearance back to UVM after capturing the state basketball championship, Marcus, Marissa and Daniel, alongside Shawn and Kade took to a different set of courts… The BOCCE courts!

After finishing up their final days of the school year, the team of Marcus, Kade, Marissa and Shawn competed in the ‘team’ division during the summer games June 2nd and 3rd. The foursome shared many laughs throughout the two day event, and when it was all said and done, they were awarded the silver medal for their efforts! “These 4 kids had the time of their lives this weekend” commented coach Shane Beam. “Many of their jokes and laughs were at my expense, but as long as they were having fun, I was okay with it!” adds Beam.

Daniel, competing in the ‘doubles’ division, played by himself and was a one man wrecking crew throughout the weekend. Only being able to throw 2 out of the 4 balls, Daniel’s never quit attitude propelled him to a few victories, and was rewarded a ribbon for his accomplishments. “Daniel’s attitude was great all weekend. Only being able to throw 2 balls was a huge disadvantage, but D kept with it and really stepped up,” says Coach Andy.

After the bocce games were over on Saturday, Marissa and Marcus were asked to open up summer games at the opening ceremonies. The two were recognized for being members of our state championship basketball team, and Marcus recited the Special Olympic oath, while Marissa lit the torch! Great job to all the Bulldog bocce members! Go Bulldogs!
