Over the past several summers Bellcate School has developed an internship program where local youths support Bellcate students as mentors. These reciprocal relationships are so important in assisting Bellcate students with self-esteem, self-confidence, social skills, and much more. In fact, it is with the support of Bellcate’s youth mentor, Ashel Adiang, that Kade was able to successfully attend Broadway Workshop-Camp Vermont. This camp held at Saint Michael’s College focused on theater and was run by New York City performers with major film/TV, Broadway, and National Tour credits. “Kade was able to fully participate and thrive at the camp,” explained Ashel. “We had so much fun meeting new people together and preparing for the end of week show. We both learned valuable lessons from each other, from our peers, and from the people running the camp.”

At the end of the week campers took center stage performing in two different hit Broadway musicals. Every camper got a chance to be featured with lines and solos. “I was a little bit nervous at first because I’ve never done anything like this, but it felt really cool to perform and to be in a Broadway show,” said Kade. “I want to say thank you to everyone who came to my show and being able to see the performance. It was very special to me to have Bellcate people there.”
